The Cosmopolitan can be traced as far back as the 1970s, and its popularity and influence crisscrossed the country over the decades. Cities and individual bartenders alike have taken turns making variations of the drink, and it has been a longstanding staple in popular culture.

 

Peach, Please

Spirit: Gin
Flavors: Peach, Strawberry, Sage

 

We first sampled a version of this cocktail at Chelsea Corner, a scratch kitchen in the Park Cities neighborhood north of downtown Dallas, circa 2009. The fruitiness of peach and strawberry, mixed with herbaceous sage and the perfect spiciness of ginger, is truly a compelling and irresistible combination. "Perfectly balanced, earthy hint, not too sweet."

You Will Need

- Vodka and Gin (see below recommendations)
- Shaker, large enough for 3 ¼ oz per cocktail, plus ice
- Citrus Peeler for Cosmopolitan (optional for orange twist garnish)

Instructions

Cosmopolitan
1. In large shaker, combine ½ oz cranberry syrup, ½ oz lime juice, ½ oz orange essence, and 1 ½ oz vodka
2. Add large ice cubes (so as to not dilute the cocktail) and shake vigorously for at least 15 seconds
3. Spray 1-2 pumps of the lemon juice spritzer into chilled glass, then strain the cocktail over it
4. Garnish with orange peel twist

Peach, Please
1. In large shaker, combine ¾ oz lemon juice, ½ oz peach essence, ½ oz ginger strawberry sage syrup, and 1 ½ oz gin
2. Add large ice cubes (so as to not dilute the cocktail) and shake vigorously for at least 15 seconds
3. Strain into chilled coupe
